Blizzard Entertainment, Inc. and Legendary Pictures announced today that Sam Raimi has signed on to direct the motion picture based on Blizzard Entertainment®’s Warcraft® universe. Raimi directed the Spider-Man trilogy, wrote and directed the cult classic, The Evil Dead and produced 30 Days Of Night. He most recently wrote and directed the supernatural thriller, Drag Me To Hell. Raimi said:
At its core, Warcraft is a fantastic, action-packed story. I am thrilled to work with such a dynamite production team to bring this project to the big screen.
Blizzard also announced that the film would be produced by Charles Roven, who spearheaded The Dark Knight, Batman Begins and the sci-fi classic 12 Monkeys. Roven, with Atlas producing partner Alex Gartner, will be producing with Legendary Pictures CEO Thomas Tull, Legendary’s Chief Creative Officer Jon Jashni, Raimi and Raimi’s producing partner Joshua Donen. Raimi’s partner, Robert Tapert, will be an Executive Producer and Blizzard Entertainment’s Senior Vice President of Creative Development, Chris Metzen, a Co-Producer.
Sounds great! Woop Woop… defo going to go see this =D
This is going to be AMAZING can’t wait.
I keep reading about people saying that Blizzard should do a Warcraft movie using the same animations as in their CGI movies. They need to understand the sheer amount of time it takes to do a rendering of a CGI animation with that quality. Blizzard is really good making a 1-2 minute movie with limited or no voice at all. Even when they do a short movie the spend months and months refining it.
It’s not the same to make a full feature movie that needs plot, character development and dialog. I submit that Blizzard would suck at making full featured CGI movie because they are not a movie studio. You need people that know how to make movies.
I’m really excited about Raimi as a Director. Granted the latest Spider-man movie sucked but Drag Me to Hell was awesome and having the backing of Legendary Pictures ( the studio for the Dark Night movies ) is a very good thing.
I personally am kinda skeptical that it will be as good as Tales of the Past, which in my opinion is the best WoW movie out there right now.
Hmm, I wonder who Bruce Campbell is going to play. I love Raimi and hope he knows what he is getting into, angry mobs await him if the movie is not perfect.
A big problem with hugely anticipated movies is that you tend to, well get your expectation up
and risk being hugely disepointed in the process. I remember a certain D&D movie a while back,
and I thought finally. But As I sat down to watch, that poor excuse of a movie I allmost wept.
. So I will do my best to se this as just another movie,
(though its gonna be a Hercules test) to pull it of:). I suggest you’ll do the same. And as a wise
