it’ll be like 2 trade channels filled with anal xhit

  2. kregerbjorn

Players that mean well will go to LFG and the channel will be nice … for a while. Then two things will happen. One, when someone gets tired of posting, “lvl 45 mage LFG for BRD” with no reply, they will take same message to /trade assuming THAT is where all his future PUG mates are at. Two, someone will get bored and will you get a two plus hour run of murloc movie titles. In the end, instead of having just one channel full of mindless chatter with the occasional spam request for WTB / LFG we will have two! Just my two cents, I could be wrong

  3. Devros

But how is this going to play out in the wild? It will act like the Trade Channel.
Does this mean that there will now be two channels filled with drivel? Yup
Will one rise above the other? probably not, just double the crap

I personally think Bliz should have a citywide chat channel that will act as the drivel channel so that the other channels can do their job.

It won’t matter anyway since if someone wants to sell/group or whatever, they will spam all the channels.

  4. Mccnuggetz

I think this will not change the game at all, if anything, is another way to search for pugs. I’m not saying that is the greatest things ever but when the LFG channel was on before i found plenty of groups in there, you just have to ignore the trolling players. I’m also sure you can turn the channel off if you dislike it. I think the LFG channel with have tons more drivel because its going to be a new channel to play with and there’s always more people looking for group than people who want to trade or sell items.

Oh and Scott, I PAINT MY FACE WITH BBQ SAUCE, NOT YOUR BLOOD!!!

  5. Raiden

Users will now have the option to fill 2 channels with mindless spam. Trade chat will still probably be the worst of the 2 channels.

  6. Fyurae

I don’t think it will be too bad. People are used to blabbering in trade, I doubt they’re going to switch. And I would bet that LFG is not enabled by default, just like before. You probably still have to click on the LFG eyeball. It was like this before, and I don’t remember it being too awful. In fact, I quite distinctly remember thinking the change was dumb.

  7. Diegocentric

People i think are just used to Trade chat for their daily dose of mindless discussions about murloc chuck norris and blah blah blah. My guess is thats what they will stick with with the occasional random poster in the new LFG channel.

  8. Czech

It will be deja vu all over again. I’m still unsure as to why they’re changing it. I mean, LFG chat sucked way back when, and the UI never gets used, so… who knows.

  9. Seeker

I think that we can count on the LFG channel taking up the mantle of primary troll-spam conduit.

Many of the biggest culprits are those waiting around for a group, waiting for a BG to start, or looking for additional party members, all of which points to LFG. The Trade channel will, in my opinion, become a lonely place, full of WTS macro spam and lowbies desperate to find old world items not currently up in the AH.

  10. odesaofdagger

it would be like wearing the same socks for 2 weeks and then using it to avoid the swine flu

  11. Leftyleap

I like that the channel has a wider audience.. however, given the lack of moderation in the current trade channel I do not have much faith that this will not be abused by spammers and gold sellers.

Even though Blizzard has made a show of banning gold sellers, there are so many in the trade channel now reporting spam doesn’t seem to have an impact.

I actually think the AOE change is going to turn out to be the sleeper change that effects many players adversely. My question about this is: will it apply to raid bosses’ AOE. lol

  12. chyse

I think they’ll both be filled with drivell, but aside from that it will be nice to bring all of the “LFG” chat out of trade chat.

  13. Rebu

I think they should just scrap that idea and make LFG Global that you can just be in all times like world defense or something but then put the spam timer back in it just do it a little differnt. Even one more thing make the LFG channel level wise to help on some bot spam

  14. Mithanu

There is no doubt that this cross realm chat is gonna be overwhelmed with attention whores. The ability to get ignored on multiple servers is going to appeal to many trade chat trolls. I really think it’s going to depend on what is typed in what channel as to the amount of BS at any given time on each channel. You will still have ppl talking in /2 because they need to deal with players on their own server. This will of course bring outbreaks or bursts of chat for various reasons.
All this aside, I don’t think a xrealm LFG chat channel is an awful idea. It may be downright essential to breathe new life into many dying servers. Time will tell…

  15. joel.gabe

I think it’s a good idea. Right now when people want to LFG, but not sign up for an instance, they just flood the trade chat. The trade chat seems to be where all the misc crap gets put. Maybe it will go back to normal. Every night I see a few people spamming (I assume with macros) both LFG and trade. Hopefully this will cut down on that.

  16. Meleroth

What’s the point of adding another city channel basically? On my server, trade gets 10x more LFG posts than the actual LFG channel. If you want to join a group, you sit in a city anyhow or you miss out. If you make LFG autojoin global, well we all know what happens then (Barrens taken to the nth degree) and if you don’t make it autojoin global well than its no different than the status quo.

  17. Tsuga

Who knows what will happen? I hope trade will be filled with actual trades and LFG becomes the junk channel. We’ll see!

  18. Pervenche

I’m not sure it will change anything, but I will try it for a while. Hope people will use it too.

  19. Demonias

Trade has been the default Barrens chat for some time now. I was pretty ticked off when they got rid of the original LFG channel, and hope that bringing it back in an expanded role beyond what it has been since the dungeon based system was implemented will restore some of it’s original functionality. On the other hand, as JonQ pointed out above, if this has the effect of removing our ability to keep up on LFG requests while out farming or questing away from cities, it will actually be a setback. I would hope that the intent is to let us continue to access the dungeon based LFG channel while away from cities.

As for drivel, there will undoubtedly be such, but I suspect that most of the trade chat idiots will just remain there rather than changing over to LFG. Won’t matter much to me — /ignore is my friend.

  20. Dieselcheeks

Now people have another channel they can use to sell stuff! I’m in favor of making trade chat only available in AH’s. If u wanna sell/buy stuff thats where you go.

  21. buckykatt

I think it will be a slow change over but an LFG channel will leave trade channel open for more random topics and therefore more people will gravitate to trade and leave LFG for well… LFG.

  22. Zeraphith

Every channel has the potential to become a clone of barrens chat or trade. However if it can help get a group in those odd hours when I cant find many other people around then I supose i can deal with it. If not, i can jsut turn it off.

  23. Drines

I fear that there will be two channels full of drivel.

That said, I do like that we can join the LFG channel without using the Dungeon System Interface– it may make looking for groups to fight the Holiday Bosses a bit easier.

  24. BigRob

Trade and now the new shinny LFG channel will be what they always have been… Guild chat for the guildless. you know it’s bad when you have a macro set up on your hot bar to mute trade chat, looks like i need to add a line to my macro to mute LFG also, which will kinda suck.

ahh well, the new fishing tourny looks fun!

  25. Bladewild

To be honest, I really don’t think that it will become the new Trade channel as people are creatures of habit (and idiocy, occasionally). The morons that spam trade chat with Anal this or [explicit] that will continue to use trade chat unless LFG moves to /2 and Trade moves down to another channel number. I still think that Blizzard should institute a /2 that is called “Faction” and operates cross-city. With Trade moving down to /4 or /5 (with LFG), you would have a much cleaner set of channels that will work as intended and the people who hate the trade chat discussions can just turn Faction chat off.

    -Bladewild, Chromaggus

  26. Evelinai

I know what it means for me- two channels to leave.:P

It’s not a bad idea in theory, but with how people use trade, well.

I think really, it heavily depends on the server and the type of people engaged in the chat channel.

  27. Hoban

Whichever channel has the brighter and more annoying default text color shall chop the head off of the other. After all, there can be only one.

  28. GeorgePauley

I kind of wondered about this when I read about the new LFG system. We still have group quests and holiday events to for groups for and I doubt the LFG system will handle them.

As to the drivel on the channels: I find that a few dozen people account for almost all the crud. Blizzard can fix this by simply increasing the number of ignores we can have.

Oh. And please please please give me a murloc!

  29. Moonisha

People will keep using the Trade channel and the LFG one will become quickly useless unless the LFG channel is for a server group… If this new channel is between more than one server it’ll become the new trade and Trade might just end up being what it’s supposed to be a channel to help you trade with people… then I will only need to quit the LFG one and will have way less spam in my trade :) if this is what happens I’ll be happy.

  30. Pseudo Nym

History repeats itself. We will have two channels filled with drivel in the beginning until the one with the lowest number will win over the other. It’s just easier that way for the socially challenged.

  31. DaaaaBears87

I believe that the new LFG channel will do fine. obviously it will have “those” players who will make it annoying to sit in and watch, but i also believe that it will help out quite a bit. Trade channel wont be flooded with “DPS LFG H daily” every 10 secs and it will make that channel easier to find the players that have the professions you need and to buy and sell items. But honestly…if there is a public chat anywhere in any game it will be filled with drivel. Seperatiing the two should help out somewhat with the anarchy…i hope lol

  32. FiendishThingy

I’m sure as soon as the server comes up after the patch LFG will be filled with “[class ability] a baby” jokes but I sure trade will remain king of the bored adolescent populace of Azeroth.

  33. Ember

Finally! Another channel where I can hear about all of my exciting gold buying and leveling opportunities, as well as misinformation and racism! Yay, progress!!

  34. Cysec

Honestly, I think it will just be another channel for the immature types to blow off steam. I sincerely hope it isn’t, but time will tell.

And if they make it cross realm to go with the new LFG system, then it’ll be absolutely horrible without some sort of policing.

  35. virago71

Unfortunately it’s going to be like Trade chat all over again I fear. Another place for random trolls to spew their mindless drivel (think the “Out With It!” achievement.)Mmmm…spew.

  36. mercant

Trade chat will always be worse. Because you can link items and skills.

  37. aramatheya

Oh yay, another channel where we can here about politics, Chuck Norris, and other incessant chatter. :)

  38. Golarin

I definately think that trade chat is going to be worse. the Anal [insert link here] comes to mind

  39. Gorentu

Most people will have both turned off. Use the new matchmaking system to pug, get achievements. It does gear checks for you, so you don’t get fresh 80′s in quest blues trying to heal forge of souls =-)

  40. vectormessiah

just something else for gold spammers to spam gold in. YOU WANT BUY GOLD FROMA DING PONG? WE HAS GOLD! YOU BUY GOLD IN LFG! SUPER AMAZING PRICES FOR SUPREME LEADER, uh, I MEAN FOR SUPREME PLAYERS!

  41. Fehnern

The problem with spam didn’t dissapear when they removed LFG so I don’t see it escalating much when the channel returns. hopefully…

  42. tacinalb

This retarded trade/lfg will be the exact same thing… All u gonna get is Lil boys being stupid and talking so much crap to each other…. Ehhh but what can u do…. Ooo yeah don’t even join any…

    Ty guys love the show

  43. ScytheNoire

Argh, there’s no consistency in these posts. One day it’s early, next day late, and all with extremely short cut off times. Horrible way to run a contest.

  44. Gorlune

I think both channels will have drivel. Its just given people another place to blab about nonsense. The world is just full of people who love to run their mouth and congratz you guys get TWO channels now!

  45. Ryan

The LFG chat is seldom used now and it usually sticks to people who are actually looking for more people or a group. I think this will continue and just get used more often by people. The type of players are used to wasting time in trade chat will continue to do so. I am figuring people that waste time spamming LFG with crap won’t get into groups, so hopefully it’ll get used as intended.

Idea: instead of trade chat, have an interface similar to listing an item on the AH, except it will include services, cities etc . . . get rid of chat all together lol :)

  46. greyconnect

I mostly just hope that both channels will get used! Right now, Trade is filled with folks looking for group and people advertising their professions. I’d seriously like to see those topics split between the two channels, in which case I reckon LFG will be the better of the channels. I don’t know about anyone else, but I’m much more likely to be looking for a group than looking for a profession… and frankly I’m just sick of the macros for all the JC’s and chanters out there.

  47. Treygon

My prediction is that LFG will be abused by a few people, but mainly will be used for its intended purpose; to find a group. Trade will continue to be the cesspool of stupidity that it is today, with the rare person actually wanting to buy/sell something. Old habits die hard. ;)

  48. Nothalkris

Hurray another channel I can close :/ No for real, I like usin the LFG channel back in vanilla until all the stupid proletariat from barrens chat came into it. Well I guess this means trade chat will be less cluttered I guess.

  49. hockeyfan18

LFG will be the new barrens chat

  50. Whitewrath

I think this is a cool idea but it is really hard to get players to use things like this, look at most of the dungeons that arent heroic, they are impossible to get a group for…..
