The Instance #185 – I Need Fifty Dollars To Take You To Halaa

Big News Of The Week

Everyone Is Talking About The New Store Items

Blizzard surprised us on Thursday with the release of the Celestial Steed in-game mount and the Lil’ XT companion pet, as purchasable items in the Blizzard store. The Celestial Steed is a starry supernatural horse that sprouts wings in Outland and Northrend, and flies at +310% of your run speed, if you already have a 310-mount. ‘Lil XT is a miniature version of that memorable Ulduar boss – XT-002 Deconstructor.

Vashj’ir Looks Wet

It’s a level 78–82 zone coming in Cataclysm where players will be called to explore the depths of the Great Sea and stop the naga from seizing immeasurable power from the realm of Neptulon the Tidehunter. This expansive underwater zone will feature an unprecedented fight for survival against the naga overwhelming the area, several new quest hubs — including Alliance and Horde naval ships and submarines — all-new underwater travel and combat mechanics, several pocketed undersea caves free from water’s grip, two new five-player dungeons (Throne of the Tides and Abyssal Maw), and the first-ever opportunity to explore the remains of the once-majestic city of Vashj’ir!

Rumors And Scuttlebutt

Would Blizzard Alter The Level 40 Gear Switch?

A poster named Tamryel delivered a veritable manifesto on the subject of changing the way players consider gear for their lower-level characters, and got an interesting response from Greg “Ghostcrawler” Street a couple of days ago. Tamryel’s complaint was that

loot drama is something that this game has far too much of and should be limited,

and his suggestion was that Blizzard do two things differently: make the armor type a class wears at endgame the armor type they wear at level 1, and prevent each class from equipping a different armor type.

The Blizzard Friday Night Developer Chat

You had questions, and Blizzard answered some of them. Friday night was the most recent round of Blizzard’s online text chat with the community, and a couple of our biggest questions were addressed.

Town Cryer

It’s an all-calls Town Cryer!

Drop Of The Week

A More Elite Armory

You know how, like everyone else in the entire world of Warcraft – you hate gearscore? You hate it with a passion and so does everyone else. Except you still run three different mods that incorporate gearscoring and secretly, you feel quite conflicted about this. Well conflict no more! The elitist armory gives you much, much more to scrutinize about that complete stranger who wants in on your Sarth + 3 drakes run than you ever imagined.

Additional show content provided by Darrell the Tipgiver, Steve “Buxley” Pietrowicz, James “Acuzod” Jefferies and the outstanding Instance Community.

  1. Did my previous post not show? Saw it up there before…

W/e. Thanks Randy for lessening my harsh stance against the celestial horse. Still won’t get one though.

  2. While i’m currently on a break from wow, I listen every week to the instance because your guys views on things are fun to hear and your info on the game is always good. The reason I am writing is that I had been a long time listener to another unamed wow podcast which lost the two host that really held the show together. I had given up on that podcast after the two left and the podcast began to go down hill, and this week i decided to check back in to see if anything had changed. Well same old people, same poor show, and it got me to thinking how well the instance comes across on discussing topics and expressing thoughts. I won’t even go into the difference in production quality, but i just personally want to say thankyou for the hard work you put in to making the show!!

  3. i love listening to you guys….just wanted to know if the song Rogues from #185 is on i-tunes or limewire….thx and Alliance FTW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  4. Love this podcast, but uhhh yeah pick me and then you gain a $100 dollar donation!!!!!!!!

  5. Hey I just realized some things: #1 the instance #185 came out on my birthday! and #2 when I commented before I didn’t know there was a contest involved, just wanted to say great show! Keep it up guys! I hope to catch a show live in the chat room soon!

  6. Love the show, great work, keep it up!

I just got back into the game in the beginning of March and listening to back episodes of the Instance makes the transition of Vanilla WoW to now less hectic. Thanks!

Now… about that night in Reno when you told me to get an Obey Henry Tattoo…

  7. Hey Scott and Randy. I <3 your show, one of my favorite podcasts. But your show isn't as fun when I don't have time on my account to play WoW as well :(

  8. Was up Scott and Randy

I would like the horse but if I don’t get that I would also like the camel
(myhump) one word…lawlz keep up the good work guys I have been listening since 113th episode and subscribed the first day and haven’t been disappointed yet……..Kapslock-”MORE DOTS!”

  9. Thanks for the link on the Elitist Armory great place to help guildies out with where they can make changes. Even flagged a the Epic gem on my wifes tank that was all we could find on the spur of the moment and had forgotten change out for a better suited tanking gem.

  10. Loved the show, the pug website is awesome, started using it! A pint and a 4 leaved clover to you both!

  11. love the show. this was hilarious. goddamnit Scott you should know what the hell a Chorizo is.

  12. I like the fact that you’re giving away some promotional things, like the free month of WoW, now the Spectral Horse.

But, I should have made one of the QFQ’s ‘What would you name your Spectral Horse?’ That would have been an amusing answer to hear from both of you!

  13. Another great show. I only recently realized that there’s a lot of stuff in the show AFTER you “finish”, lol. For example, I loved the 2 songs this week – the rogue song and the “I used to own WOW” song. Great stuff.

  17. Amazing show, keep on going! One thing came to my mind while listening this episode. I do loads of heroics/raids with my chars wich means I do know them quite well. I just leveled a new alt and it’s happened few times that I’ve been kicked out of the raid just because they won’t believe I know what I’m doing, based on my gear/(elitist) armory profile. So even tho those give you a good view to certain character, they won’t give you the correct info about the player behind the screen. So I’m just wanting to remind you that there’s altholi… players like me that like to play with different classes and there’s times when you just have to believe what peoples say instead of relying only to some website’s info.

  19. Hey guys love the show.
I’m kinda late with this but I’m a new listner
Gotta disagree with you one the giving a little % of the player base some love with the RL buyable mounts/pet’s.
You don’t need the mount nor the pet it’s just cosmetic eye candy, ill admit i bough it the day i found out about it and it’s been siting in my bank since, just got it to help me out with the mount achivment really.

  20. Seriously out of the 5 new zones in cataclysm I hate vashj’ir the most! Sometimes it is so hard to navigate in that area especially looking for quest item/mobs, even the next quest hub! This is the only area that makes me dizzy after 2hours of questing there. I’d still level there with my alt up to the sea horse mount quest and change to hyjal, which is so much better (lots of gankers though). Just wondering if anyone finished all the quests in vashj’ir?
