The Instance #191 – The Ruby Sanctum Has No Eye

Big News Of The Week

WoW Is Back On Deck

Blizzard’s spin-off company Cryptozoic released their first set in the WoW Trading Card Game this week, and it’s called Wrathgate.  You can read all about it in three parts here, here and here.

Rumors And Scuttlebutt

It’s The Eve Of Ruby Sanctum

Public Test Realm testers have been looking at the quickly forthcoming Ruby Sanctum patch to World Of Warcraft. The Ruby Sanctum is the gathering place for the red dragonflight, and it’s about to be attacked by the black dragonflight in their nefarious plot to enable Deathwing’s return.

Town Cryer

Andy from London writes: Do you guys think that Blizzard should really change the DK starting level to 65? The DK starting zone was amazingly fun with lots of set-pieces and backstory to explain how you became free of the Lich King. However there is a big sense of disconnect from this story when you step into Outland to fight Illidan, which makes absolutely no sense for a Death Knight to do. Wouldn’t it be better to finish the DK starting area at level 68 instead of level 58?

Cataclysmic Drop Of The Week

Round Round Get Around, You Get Around

This is the fourth in our limited series, where we’re highlighting things for you to do in WoW that you might not ever get to do again after the Cataclysm.

Additional show content provided by Darrell the Tipgiver, Steve “Buxley” Pietrowicz, James “Acuzod” Jefferies and the outstanding Instance Community.

  2. hey Scott & Randy, just wanted to say the i’m loving the podcast. I’ve been playing WoW for about 2 months now, and I’ve been listening to the instance for about 5 or 6 weeks. i listen to it while i’m at work to keep me from going insane. keep up the great work, and i’ll keep listening.

    Thanks Again,
    Dave

  3. Hey guys! Hroon/Taragarn of AIE here, gotta say I can’t think of anyone more deserving of some awesome jewelery than my wonderful wife. We could only afford to keep one account going this month, and she renewed mine just so I could level my DK and go on Tosh’s classic raids.

    Love the show!

  4. Wanted to say a quick thanks for the monthes of distraction, trust me it got me through my senior year. I’M GRADUATING!!! … Woot!

  5. Hey Scott and Randy, just wanted to stop in and say that I’ve been listening to The Instance since “vanilla WoW.” Thanks for keeping me company while I play. Now i’m going to listen to 191 and raid Ice Cream Citadel with my 80 DK.

  6. Hey folks, really love the show. The Nickelback impressions had me in stitches again, thanks for leaving it in there! Also as Chuck pointed out earlier; the Summer Fire Festival is here in less than a month, which will be great to do alongside the exploration achievements. – If it’s anything like last year, it’ll be an easy way to earn money at 80.

Oh and one of my close friends has a birthday coming up soon, and some of that jewelry would be absolutely perfect for a gift! *Crosses fingers*

    Keep up the awesome work.

Regards from across the pond in the UK,

  7. I just wanted to add to the shout out for agess rings at the end of this episode. I checked out, and decided to purchase a braclet for my wonderful gaming significant other and I have exprienced nothing but exceptional service and customer service. My fine crafted braclet is on its way in the mail as we speak, and I recommend anyone looking for a unqie gift to themselves or another to check it out.

  8. I’m a new listener just discovered your podcast on i-tunes and wanted to say I LOVE YOUR SHOW! You two have kept me entertained for the last 2 hours. Looking forward to hearing and seeing more!

  9. Hi guys loved the cast! You mentioned using the moble armoury to access the auction house in-game but you have to be logged out of your game account to use it.

  10. I LOVE the Instance. Your “Cataclysmic Drop of the Week” segments are very interesting and very well appreciated.

Here is a CDotW for next week. Hurry and farm yourself a Thunderfury or Sulfuras legendary weapon before it’s too late! They may be removing OR updating the instance. Level 60 drops FTW!

Get a shot at classic WoW awesomeness!

    Thanks for the podcast. Derp!

  14. Boooooobies!

Hehe, just joking. Love The Instance, love Frogpants Studios, you guys are awesome. Keep up the amazing work! Even on a week where there is very little news, you guys still manage to make something epic out of it!

  15. Just found your show this week. I enjoy it enough that I’m now going through your older shows. Good stuff! Thanks!

  16. Is there really anywhere else to get great information about WoW then this podcast? Never a dull moment and great to listen to while riding home from work on my bike! Cheers!

  17. I’ve been listening to this show for 2 years now, and still love it and count on it. Jewelry is great, but I appreciate all you guys do just for us! THANK YOU!!

  18. Hey Randy and Scott. Love the show. Just got my Baron mount after 41 tries. Thanks for motivating me to do it. Now working on Raider. Love the show! My co-worker and I both discuss the show every week

  19. I listen to your podcast while I’m playing and forward all the interesting tidbits to my guild =) (I keep telling them to subscribe and listen for themselves, but am compelled to share anyway!)

Jewelry? I haven’t navigated your site much so don’t know where the parts of the ‘show notes’ are to find the link you mentioned to the site where I can browse/buy the mentioned jewelry. Can someone point me in the right direction?

Keep up the great work – you guys have surpassed This American Life as my favorite podcast and are poised to edge out The Moth.

  20. Piacenza,

The show notes are above (just under the picture of that girl’s eyes), but here is the link to my site in case you can’t find it. You can also browse/buy my jewelry via my online shop :)

I just have to say, THANKS! to this online community! Your nice comments about my work are certainly appreciated, and I’m so glad there’s a good reception to this giveaway!

And just to let people know, the giveaway is for two “grab bags” – each contains a Swarovski pendant, a pair of earrings and a ring. :)

Good luck to everyone hoping for a win! <3

  21. Loved the show as always. Still trying for the Rivendare mount. And going back to redo as many screenshots of old world as possible since I lost all mine in a computer wipe. (sad panda) Although I’m looking forward to my Tour de Azeroth! lol ^^ You guys always make my long commutes interesting and fun. Thanks for all you do! Cheeseburger! (and I thought ZA was a BC raid. Maybe I’m just confused O.o)

  22. Whatever happened to solicitations for “indiscriminate photographs” at the end of the show? Get in trouble with the wifeys for illicit indiscriminate photos, or just too many photos you just could have done without seeing?

Keep rocking out the good stuff. Love the Instance. Still missing Extralife. Bring O on board now and again. :)

  23. Hey Scott and Randy,

Keep up the good work! I love the show! I recommend it to all my friends who play. My entire family (me, wife, and 2 sons) play wow together, it’s great family time!. I can’t think of anything I’d like more than to present my wife with a nice set of BE jewelry since she is our BE Pally Tank.

  24. Hey Steve and Randy, great work on the show. I’m really enjoying the Cataclysmic drop of the week segment. I will one day get the Baron’s mount.

Also, I wouldn’t mind winning some blood elf style jewelry for my lovely wife.

  25. Thanks for the great show, guys. Showing this podcast to my friends got them interested into both the game and podcast. Take care, and continue the great work.

  26. I absolutely LOVE you guys!!! I listen to you guys every week, you make the day so much better.

I also listen to a lot of the other Frogpants Studio Podcasts. They are the only ones I really enjoy. Thank you for all that you do!!!
    ———————————————————————————–
Blood Elf Jewelry to wear while I’m playing my Blood Elf Mage would be awesome!!! =^.^=

  27. Hey guys, I love the show. You really poked the Sanctum right in the Eye.

  28. As per the “Cataclysmic” Drop of the Week, I am working on getting the Explorer title. It would appear I had less completed than I thought. Ugh.

  29. holy smoke this a lot of comments!

I always thought that the Death Knights should spend some time in shadowmoon valley tracking down any rogue Death Knights left over from Gul’dan, and exploring the details of that magic in order to use it against the Lich King. They could also play a part in tracking down the Dark Riders.

There is a huge disconect in going to Outland. They could at least have Mograine say something like “why don’t you go hone your skills in Outland while me and Tirion assemble the army” but you get nothing, you’re just dumped in the world.

It was a sensible thing to do at WOTLK release so that the people playing death knights wouldn’t all be dropped right in the beginning of northrend like everyone else. I suppose when Cata comes out they could bump it up a bit, but i’m not sure it really matters either.

  30. There’s nothing like the idea of getting to open mystery packages (possibly quite often) to make me want to buy trading cards I don’t need. Aaaaaah! Must have them!

Also, love the show. Your recent pursuit of an explicit tag has been extremely entertaining! :)

  31. I am leaving a comment in hopes the epic loot jewelry will drop so I can give it to a special Bloodelf Paladin! :P

  32. Omg awesome ep cant wait to hear next week love you guys also i think my gf would love you too if i won the nice Jewelry ;D

  33. You guys are the cream on my scone. Please never leave us.

    Much tiny gnome love.

  34. Hey guys!

Great show again this week, as usual.

My girlfriend’s account got hacked last week, so she needs a lil incentive to keep her playing! Jewelry fits the bill! ;)

  35. Hey guys. I’ve been listening to you for more than a year. Awesome job and I hope Nerdtacular was a great success. Maybe catch you at Blizzcon. :)

    Leech

  36. WoW Jewlery will make my wife feel a lot more comfortable with me playing a female Blood Elf! (I don’t know how that would work exactly…)

  37. Looong time listener, you guys keep me sane at work. Though, I must admit, I can’t ever find your show notes, which saddens me beyond words!

    QQ

But yes, this is also a jewelry comment.

  38. So Brann is South African? Nice idea with the segment, but just do it straight. The accent is’na working.

  39. I’m a new listener and I’m also new to WoW but you guys definitely provide information that newcomers and oldbies can use. Thanks guys!

    P.S.- Jewelery ftw.

  40. I’m looking for that jewelry link too… or you could just send me some shinnies…=D Spectacular work!
