The Instance #211: Orgrimmar’s Back Door

Big News Of The Week

He’s Huge, He Can Fly, He’s Fiery, And He’s Pissed!

As if you weren’t fully aware of the obvious, we are one week away from World Of Warcraft: Cataclysm, the third expansion to WoW, and all its pleasant delights! We are also now one week past The Shattering, that night last week when Deathwing flew all over Azeroth and destroyed the very landscape, in addition to most of some of the cities we love. Don’t worry, they got partially-rebuilt really quickly. Like, immediately. But there is still some scaffolding up. Sorry about the mess.

Rumors And Scuttlebutt

Do We Get Results, Or What?

One week ago, on the eve of The Shattering, we discussed the cost to the player who decides to take up World of Warcraft for the first time now, or in the near future. Something then happened that seems to happen a lot with The Instance: On the very next day, literally withing a couple of hours of posting the show, Blizzard slashed the prices of the original game and the first two expansions.

Town Cryer

Kevin I. writes: I just returned home from serving with the Air Force in the middle east and I was looking to pre-order Cataclysm Collectors Edition and do an in-store pickup so I can play the day of launch. Seems like all the stores in northern Utah are not selling them or are sold out and won’t hold on to one for me. I was wondering if you know where i can pick one up the night of. Waiting 3-5 days on shipping and paying twice the MSRP is not something I’m willing to do if i can avoid it. I don’t really want to buy it twice, one regular copy for launch day and one collectors edition 3-5 days later.

  1. Hiya, just wanted to comment on the timeskip thing. Blizzard stated some time age that it’s actually been two years now in WoW since we beat the Lich King. The Shattering (the book that is) took place somewhere between that two year time skip, quite soon after killing the Lich King I think because Anduin’s age is stated to be 13 in the book and 15 in Cataclysm.

  2. For leveling up during these troubled times, and doing it in the fastest way possible: Questing! wow-pro.com This is THE site to learn about questing and progression throughout the World of Warcraft. ( :

  3. In regards to the caller having issues with the launcher and IE. I use FireFox as well. I never use IE. So the first thing I did was uninstall IE. Never had to deal with it again and the launcher goes right to FireFox.
Start > Control Panel > (Programs > Programs and Features or Programs and Features) > Left Menu “Turn windows features on or off” > uncheck “Internet Explorer 8(what ever version you have)” and click okay. You will have to restart. After that is all said and done you launcher should go right to Firefox along with every other link.

  4. Yeah, diss the russian language, real classy. I don’t understand why so surprised though. Asia (and blizzard counts Russia as Asia) creates 50% subscribers of World of Warcraft, while North America is only 22% (Europe even less, around 17%). And yet we never get a launch party, or even just a party of some blizzard-oriented sort. About time I say. ;D

  5. Good job, guys! Bliz didn’t realize they were selling the games for $5/$5/$10, and you went and told them and the NEXT DAY they took the deal away!!! D=

  6. I wish I could recommend WarcraftPets, but unfortunately when I posted a Youtube video on the comments system there recently, I had the comment removed. Okay, that’s fine, I get it, that’s cool – they don’t want you linking to competing guides (despite them not actually offering ‘guides’), but Breanni also deleted my account altogether, AND using my account put a cookie in my browser to stop me from being able to access the website at all (I still have the cookie saved). Those last two steps are over the top and malicious. Even she will have received links when she started out and all I did was link to a guide on youtube.

So i really see no reason whatsoever to recommend her website or why she should get any help from the community. If you have any trouble believing this, I wouldn’t blame you, try doing it yourself. Make an account on WarcraftPets and post a comment with a video to a youtube guide that helped you get a pet.

  7. Just wanted to point out that people like myself that have Tinnitus (ringing in the ears) have a hard to getting to sleep without something like a tv to drown it out otherwise the ringing gets very deafening.

  8. Guys – Love the show! Keep up the hard work – it’s much appreciated! Regarding the Lore Comment – if you’ve ever been through Scarlet Monestary – Library, there’s a half dozen books in Doan’s chamber that goes through much of the lore. A level 80 can solo that place easy in 2 minutes and read all the books in the whole instance. As a guide, there’s an achievement, “Well Read” that has dozens of books in-game that have content regarding the lore of WoW.

Just my thoughts on the matter.

Contains information on the most popular talent builds and glyph combinations for the different classes and specs. Very useful to getting an idea of what the popular talents and glyphs are to give you a starting point for designing the build for your character.
