Drop of the Week
SteelSeries Announces Third ‘World of Warcraft’ MMO Mouse! SteelSeries announced the next in its line of Blizzard-licensed World of Warcraft mice, the World of Warcraft MMO Gaming Mouse Legendary Edition. It’s a mouthful, we know. The new mouse is the follow-up to the equally lengthily-named World of Warcraft Cataclysm MMO Gaming Mouse ($99.99 direct, 3.5 stars). However, where the Cataclysm mouse takes after Deathwing, the Legendary Edition’s design is inspired by the Thunderfury sword of lore – though it looks more like it takes after cracked earth with fissures of lava running throughout.

  1. Greetings, Scott, Dills, & Tirp the Tirpster, Tirpin. This is your friendly neighborhood Demonology Warlock, Jorobetten, on the Dawnbringer Realm, in the totally awesome guild Reservoir Dogs. You asked a question this week regarding whether there was just to much going on in the game for a new player. I suggest the answer is emphatically NO! I began playing WOW during the height of Wrath of the Lich King (actually I thought the title of the game was Wrath of the Lich King at first). I had no idea what an expansion was, much less how totally huge and involved WOW was, however I love it. The more things I learned I could do the more interesting the game became. I still remember the first dungeon I ran (Deadmines PUG) and the fact that it took 1.5 hrs to organize a group in trade (pre-group finder) and another 1 hour to run the dungeon. And then I was hooked, no more final fantasy for me, no sir, WOW was it. Anywho, back to your question, I believe that the more there is to do just excites new players more instead of overwhelming them. Or it may overwhelm them, however not in a way that would turn them away from the game but instead make then determined to do everything. Well that’s my two cents.

You’d better ask those melee mobs how hard those short range AOE’s hit: (Demon Form + Hell Fire + Immolate + Infernal+ Felstorm= uugh….DEAD). And always remember, “A LIVE DEMONOLOGY LOCK = A DEAD EVERYTHING ELSE!”. For the Alliance!

  7. Another new player (Ghelor from Proudmoore-US) started messing with WoW around May 2010 got a Rogue to 20 then switched realms to join a friends guild. (WoW is actually my first MMO so learning curve was a bit large.) It took me until just before cata before I started to really understand things, and only really since Jan or Feb this year. However like Jorobetten I love the game and still learning more and more everyday. There is a huge amount for new players to get their head around, especially non MMO players.

  8. Dylls was right on about Void Storage and Transmogrification (that is really hard to spell.) Good one!

And no, I don’t feel at all that Dylls and Turp don’t like each other. They both provide different roles on the show and they fill those roles well. I listen to other WoW podcasts, however, in which I do feel like the hosts have ongoing issues with each other and it’s annoying when it creeps into the podcast.
