Interview with Danielle Mackey

instance-page-thing1 b8ea61d13335cf1386fa44d7ef1514ba

Scott had a chance to sit down with Danielle Mackey, one of the contestants on this season of King of the Nerds, and a big Youtuber where she covers WoW in a way that few do. We got to talk about her life in the game, what she misses, and what she loves about WoW to this day, and a whole lot more. This is the first of many “extra” interviews coming to the instance soon!

310 – A plain white room

mr-t-night-elf-mohawk-550x308

You ever have that feeling when things just appear too good to be true, and then you wake up buried alive in a shallow Mexican grave with nothing but a thin layer of dirt to cover you? I equate that analogy with our hosting trio, of which we only have two this week. To be fair, it’s fairly expensive to do an entire show with one of our hosts pretending to be two people, so enjoy it when it happens. On this episode of The Instance, Blizzcon is making a big comeback in November, Diablo 3 finally makes it official with consoles, a HUGE interview coming to the show next week, we check the 5.2 temperature and see if it’s still planning on coming out next week, the middle class of WoW, account bound leveling ideas, one listener just ain’t feeling talented, what 10 years of wow will mean in 2014, how Bungie and Blizzard might surprise us, and lots more!

This week in emails, is there an even greater significance to Blizzard halving our leveling progression per expansion? Could both the upcoming Bungie title ‘Destiny’ and Blizzard’s Titan be able to play nice together, or could it be that they are essentially the same kind of game? And finally, are the new character talent systems making individual characters less unique? These questions shall be answered in the order that they were received.* Also, be on the look out both on the site and on Twitter for the upcoming interview with Greg Street this week.

*This is in no way a statement of fact.

309 – Is there no justice?

AngryMobFunRun_1024Simpsons

This week we are welcomed by another episode of the Instance. And, get this, we actually have not one, not two, but three hosts giving you ear-hole pleasure. On this episode of The Instance, starting new in Azeroth and banging out the warlock (uhh, what), 5.2 is on the background downloader, keep your freaking valor, cross-realm 5.0 raids are happening with 5.2, you can wow for $35, Warcraft gets all trivial and stuff, a dream for Turpster, Trial of The Red Blossoms on the site, and lots more! Also, we have some exciting interview news coming, stay tuned…

This week in emails, our trio discusses which servers they are playing on and why. Also, we go into some discussions regarding the WoW movie and exactly what form that will take. Is this movie just to entice players to start playing WoW? Will any gamer want to start playing WoW because of the movie? Our crew gets into these important questions and more.

308 – The Dawn of Dragons

spyroSpyro

Welcome, once again, to an exciting episode of The Instance. In our continued effort to have people believe that only have two hosts, Scott Johnson is joined by Mark Turpan in this week’s discussions. On this episode, Scott discovers a new-found love of the game, the T weighs in on the Warcraft movie, D3 and WoW subs announced in an earnings call, Blackstone finally comes to light from last year, Macro’s are finally getting some love, 10% nerf coming to 5.0, and lots more!

This week in emails, why do Scott and Turpster pick the classes that they do, and why some leave the game and others go strong throughout. There’s no denying that people have a fondness for their characters, especially the ones they started with. I don’t know if you all know this, but Scott has an attachment to Gerp and Henry… some would say too much of an attachment. I’m sure his wife knows, right?

307 – Thrall is ready for his closeup

Thrall_magazine_cover

Our illustrious Instance team returns to us after a week hiatus to give you all of your WoW rumors and WoW fact. Unfortunately, Turpster has volunteered to be test subject in a pilot program conduct by the University of Phoenix in the study of vegan-ism and overly aggressive sleeping and he has not been heard from since. Big news dropped this week with the announcement of Duncan Jones as the director of the Warcraft movie. Jones, most notably, was the director of Moon and Source Code and is the son of one David Bowie. Let us all hope he will be able to live that down one day. Currently Warner Bros. is looking at production starting in late 2013 for a 2015 release. We’ve also got some new stuff to discuss with the 5.2 Patch on the PTR and some rantings of one Greg “Ghostcrawler” Street about the talent system.

Some emails are coherent, others are not. And this one deserves to be quoted entirely:

“Hi there,

How are you doing?
I’m pleased to share my good experience with you…:)
I’ve bought an iPad mini for myself last week!!lol
It’s amazing, even beyond my imagination!!
This is the shop i got the iPad mini: www.*****.info tell them you heard the news from me, they may offer you free shipping or some discounts for sure. lol
And i watched the movie The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, I really love this movie, I expect when the next one will be shown lol
Next month i will do some trip to the country side.
Best regards.

Sincerely Yours:Chris”

So… “lol” I guess? Also, how would you feel if you not only had a house in WoW, but a family with kids? Our dynamic duo answers these important questions.

306 – Welcome to Joyland

joylandsc_01

In continuation of our host drama series, also known as the Instance, Scott and Turpster join us this week while Dills is off doing his Saturday-like adventures. This week our hosts discuss the rather abrupt departure of Jay Wilson from the Diablo project to move on to something else. It should be noted that he has not left Blizzard, he as only stopped work on Diablo. Let the conjecture commence! In other news our hosting duo gets into the 5.2 official notes, a ton of pictures have surfaced about “Blizzard-themed” amazement park in China, and one development water cooler discussion about how Blizzard tunes encounters is worth the read.

You all have questions, and we pretend to have legitimate answers. One fellow has not had a friend contact them via Real ID in over 43 years… it’s at this point that I should remind people that WoW is only 8 years old. Also, Scott and Turpster inform everyone about which chat room one should actually attend in order to view the live stream and when they actually schedule shows so all may observe the history in the making.

305 – Cleaning up the big cities

wow-1349641070

So, as the saying goes, one step forward and two steps back. We have apparently regressed back to our two lovely hosts as Turpster did not adhere to the “Don’t lick hobo armpits.” rule, and is now down and out with the pox. We all wish him a speedy recovery. And so, once again, our crew opens with some weather talk, but luckily the discussion moves on to Warcraft. Dills recounts his heroic efforts of soloing bosses now that he’s beast master spec and Scott gives us the news that people in the big cities are now actually fixing the destruction that Deathwing reigned down an expansion ago. Also, PTR data mining has revealed “Defense of Alehouse” which most people believe is a DotA style battleground in development. In other news, for those of you feeling like you’re not paying enough for Warcraft, the Swift Windsteed can be yours for a mere $25, and more power to you.

Our Instance team loves to take your calls and emails, the this week the team discusses adding more items to the PTR, players actually getting a place to live, and the big “what if” game of real people getting sucked into the game and living out your life. Also, Scott and Dills discuss the rise of streaming media in Mists as well as in the gaming scene in general. And lastly, the long awaited contest comes to a close and, ladies and gentlemen, we have a winner.

304 – Welcome to the Thunderdome

343784

In an unprecedented move the Instance podcast has decided to have all three of it’s hosts for this episode. After an exhaustive fact-finding tour of the Siberian hill tribes, Turpster discovered that it is “quite cold” up there and subsequently decided to return home to a less obsessive climate. This week our team discusses the Thunder King (insert wrestling smack-talk here), 5.2 is live on the PTR, aerial combat comes to light again, and the phasing system gets out of hand, all of this and more.

You know, the big three are popular folks and, as a result, some folks can get caught in the headlights when they address our beloved crew. My only advice is be yourself and just ask your question, perhaps even write it down beforehand. That being said, we have nervous-caller questions that need answers! This week our crew tackles some PvP strats, character models existence in question, and apparently people needs more zombies. Also make sure you put a comment in our giveaway post, the drawing shall be next week.

303 – Scenario-HO HO!

157638-blizzardholidayheader

One William Dills and Mr. Scott Johnson have entered into the fray once more to deliver premium audio entertainment. Mark Turpan said something about making his own Mayan Calendar to be misinterpreted one day in the future, only to explicitly say that the world is ending on a particular day in the future (which turns out to be the past), and he has not been heard from since. New 5.2 patch information has been floating to the top of our particular WoW toilet, players can gain bonus reputation in scenarios and dungeons, pet battles will be able to grant Lesser Charms of Good Fortune, and we now have our first screenshot of the new Thunder Isle raid. And, in other Blizzard news, Mike Morhiem is now saying that after Heart of the Swarm is released then the focus of the company will shift to Blizzard All-Stars for beta.

Also, our dynamic duo also pretends to give relationship advice to all who want to listen. I suppose they are actually giving advice, which is not really pretending, whether that advice is valuable or not remains to be seen. Should you pursue a relationship with a person who doesn’t play video games themselves and is only okay with you doing it? And, no one seems to be discussing the Monk class very much in the podcasting community. Is that indicative of the class not being useful or unique? Scott and Dills will give us answers!

302 – Embrace the Tillers

purple_peas_rotor_tiller_race

Mr. Scott Johnson and William Dills have returned again for another entertainment-filled episode of the Instance. Last week Turpster found a passion for horticulture and went to Cameroon in order to research the mating habits of the Serenity Lavender Bliss, he has not been heard from since. Despite this setback our team delivers future patch news, Stockton speaks to the daily grind, Blizzard gives us yet another hint of Diablo coming to consoles, and Asheron’s Call II is back from the dead. All of this and more on this episode of the Instance.

For this week’s Town Cryer, Customer Service gets weird for international players, one listener thinks player’s should get rested experience points for reputations, the Horde is becoming the man, and Hunter pets shouldn’t have Growl on when going to a raid boss… bad things happen. Stampede + Growl = a very pissed off tank. Lastly, the team gives everyone a brief overview of WoWkemon, an addon for those into Bet Battles.
